“HOME: A HAVEN FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN”
This institution is the smallest unit of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, Pune Province. It was started in 2004 with 5 boys who were in difficult and vulnerable condition. We don’t have our own educational Institution. We give only Hostel facilities. The children stay in the Home and go to various neighbouring English and Marathi medium schools. The Home has all the facilities to accommodate 40 children; but today we have 35 boys staying in the boarding, they are between the age group of 6 years to 16 years, studying in 1st to 10th standard.
We admit only children who live under most difficult and vulnerable situations. We have in the Home Orphans, semi orphans and children of the migrant workers and from those families destitute and not able to send their children to school. Our aim is to provide primary education till 10th class to these children. We meet all the needs of these children in our Home: food, clothing, medical care, school fees, organised and supervised study and coaching classes, spiritual, moral and value based formation and various other “training for life” programs.
We also conduct coaching classes for those school dropouts and slow learners to sit for NIOS 10th class national exam. We normally coach up 10 to 15 youth/ year to sit for the exam. Most of the expenses of the Home is met by the province contribution besides a few contributions by the local benefactors and friends
